This movie made more than two thirds of it's production budget back in the opening weekend according to boxofficemojo. My guess is this will be greenlit for a sequel but that it will have a significantly lower production budget, maybe million.
It seems like every sci fi fan I speak to wish that their will be a sequel to this movie, it was great and the music score just wonderfull.
